Review PONTIAC Judge Trans Am Air Nos Tunnel Port Engine fits FIREBIRD RAM GTO 1969–1970

Introducing the Pontiac 545288 engine, an iconic powertrain that graced some of the most desirable muscle cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s. This engine was specifically used in the Pontiac GTO, Judge, Firebird, Trans Am, and Ram Air models from the 1969 and 1970 production years.

The Pontiac 545288 engine is a V8 powerhouse, boasting a displacement of 400 cubic inches (6.6 liters) and a unique design that sets it apart from other engines of its time. It features a multi-port, tunnel ram induction system, which is a complex yet effective design that draws in air through a large single carburetor, and distributes it to each cylinder via separate intake runners. This design provides an efficient and powerful airflow into the engine, resulting in improved performance and an unmistakable engine note.

Another notable feature of the Pontiac 545288 engine is its ram air system. Ram air is a type of induction system that forces cool, dense air into the engine via a functional hood scoop. This system enhances engine performance by providing a more consistent air supply, which in turn leads to increased horsepower and torque.

The engine block itself is made of aluminum, which is lighter than traditional cast iron blocks, reducing unsprung weight and improving overall vehicle performance. Furthermore, the engine block is cross-bolted, providing added strength and durability.

The Pontiac 545288 engine is also known for its robustness and reliability. It features a forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, and forged pistons. These components are designed to withstand the rigors of high-performance driving, ensuring that the engine remains strong and powerful, even under heavy use.

In summary, the Pontiac 545288 engine is a legendary powertrain that embodies the spirit of muscle car history. Its unique design, featuring a tunnel ram induction system, ram air system, and aluminum block, make it a standout performer. Its robustness and reliability ensure that it remains a favorite among collectors and enthusiasts alike. Whether you're restoring a classic muscle car or building a high-performance hot rod, the Pontiac 545288 engine is an excellent choice that is sure to deliver an unforgettable driving experience.

Buying a Pontiac GTO, Judge, Firebird, Trans Am, Ram Air, or No Stock Tunnel Port engine from the 1969 or 1970 model years can be an exciting prospect for car enthusiasts. However, like any significant purchase, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.

Pros:

1. Rare and Valuable: These engines are highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts, making them valuable investments.

2. Powerful Performance: These engines deliver impressive power and torque, providing an exhilarating driving experience.

3. Authenticity: These engines are original to the Pontiac muscle cars of the era, adding to their historical and collectible value.

4. Customizability: These engines offer various modifications, allowing enthusiasts to personalize their cars to their preferences.

5. Community: Owning one of these engines means joining a passionate community of enthusiasts and restorers, providing a wealth of knowledge and resources.

Cons:

1. Cost: The price of these engines can be substantial, both for the engine itself and for the necessary modifications and repairs.

2. Complexity: These engines can be complex to maintain, requiring specialized knowledge and tools.

3. Availability: Finding an original, unaltered engine in good condition can be challenging, making it a lengthy and potentially expensive process.

4. Compatibility: These engines may require modifications to fit into modern vehicles or to work with aftermarket parts, adding to the cost and complexity.

5. Insurance: Insuring a vehicle with one of these high-performance engines can be more expensive than insuring a standard car.

In conclusion, purchasing a Pontiac GTO, Judge, Firebird, Trans Am, Ram Air, or No Stock Tunnel Port engine from the 1969 or 1970 model years can offer incredible performance, historical value, and a sense of community. However, it also comes with significant costs, complexity, and potential compatibility issues.

Ultimately, the decision to buy one of these engines depends on individual priorities, budget, and level of enthusiasm for the Pontiac muscle car scene. For those who are passionate about the history, performance, and community, the pros may outweigh the cons. For others, it may be worth considering alternative high-performance engines or modern muscle cars that offer similar performance at a lower cost and complexity.

Details:

I have no money because don't work,I like anyone,I never buy anything but bitch about everything, live with my parents and hate them too,I go to every web site give opinion so people think I'm smart or just the that if they crapped diamonds. Basically heres the deal. I finally found out who it is and a civil suit coming as soon my attorney figures the final lost sales amount. If I needed, wanted or had to sell it then I'd start at 100.00 with no reserve.

They are both NOS. Hate me if you want but I spent my life collecting this stuff. My machines was impressed with it and said a very nice block. I am not trying to sell it,need it or even want.

Yup Seinfeld. It has the factory 545856 forged pistons, 545855 rods and NOS 545671 standard crankshaft. The other head looks just like the one pictured. At one point a valve broke and damaged the top of pistons.

I'm sure I forgot something and will update as think of it. This block has no sleeves and will stay standard bore. This is a lifetime collection of original RAV parts. For sale is nearly every single part and a lot of them NOS for 1970 RAV WY Tunnel Port engine.

Very, very nice and standard bore. RARE doesn't even come close to the of this engine. NOS RAV 400 cylinder heads, intake, camshaft, pin hole lifters, push rods, rocker arms, studs, nuts, valve springs, intake and exhaust valves, distributor, oil pump, oil pump shaft, camshaft plate,Intake gaskets, valve cover bolts,1115345 CD ignition control box, coil etc. It put some minor scratches in the cylinder.

That's always hilarious. Please feel free and give me your best shot. It is just for sale. It probably could have been reused but I had a NOS RAV piston so replaced it.

This is an unbelievably rare engine and I finally got a lot of the key pieces dug out. I have heard them all but go ahead. You got one of these engines go ahead and sell it for what you want. Just to be sure on its condition I had it cleaned and crack checked.
